Nishmat Shalom Community Decision Meeting: June 10, 2014

Treasury Report (Alice): Balance forward as of February 11, 2014.
Expenses since the last CDM were $108.84 (Childcare, Postage, Bank
charges) and a $36 contribution was received. Current balance,
$669.16. We decided to pay George an extra $40, given that
over April, May and June, we have two cancelled services and one he
missed due to illness (no substitute paid).
Childcare Update (Ed) and Minyan Update: Children were present in
May (no provider available) and in January and February (provider
available); no children present in March. We have had a minyan
for Torah service consistently since the last CDM.
Calendar – hosts for summer/fall: The June Shabbat service has
been cancelled since the usual service leaders will be out of town and
no host or leaders have been found. Lea has offered to host both
July 26th and August 16th. We will be holding a
Yizkor/Neilah/Breakfast.
Liturgy Project: Lea communicated with Susie Kisber and brought in a
list of resources for Feminist liturgy. We will hold a liturgy
project meeting on Tuesday, July 15th at 7 pm at
Carol’s. We will invite people to bring any suggested
additions for the service they may have. If some who are
interested cannot participate at that time, items can be scanned and
emailed to them.
Teaching: Max agrees to offer a teaching after lunch on "Sects and
Schisms in Judaism" at the July Shabbat gathering.
Appeal Letter: We reviewed a draft of the fall appeal letter with
mailing date TBD. Thank you to Lea for editing the updated letter
and sending it out for feedback.
Celebrating Vicky: We discussed holding a memorial gathering to honor
Vicky. We discussed some different options, and decided to honor
her at our Shabbat gathering on July 26th which would have been her
60th birthday.
Newsletter Process: Hanna reviewed the process for collecting and
reviewing information for the Newsletter/ Calendar — now using a
google doc that everyone can see (if Hanna has your gmail
address). However, to keep confusion down, we ask that Hanna be
the only person to write on the document. Please send Hanna
your edits by email. (Next newsletter, w/appeal
letter, will be planned at the 8/26 CDM).
Childcare: provider George offered to provide Jewish content and
learning during childcare. (There are a couple of Jewish story
books now with the siddurim; Lea will remind him).
Torah Case: Carol investigated one possible hard-shell case for
Torah scroll that ended up being too small, and she will continue to
explore other possibilities this summer.
