Treasury Report submitted by Alice. Balance forward:  669.16 (as of June 10, 2014).  Outgo:  Childcare (April Bonus) 40.00; Childcare for July and August: 80.00; Communications: Newsletter Postage  24.50;  Bank charges 2.00;  NHC T-shirt listing:  $36.00 Total out:  182.50  Income: Member contributions:  36.00;       Total in:  36.00   Balance:  522.66

We agree to again organize a group Hanukkah gift to an anonymous family affected by domestic violence, through Shalom Bayit?  We have been doing this for about 9 years.  We appreciate Lea coordinating this once again.

Childcare and Minyan Update:  No June service; July and August-childcare person present for both, no children.  In July we had a minyan and an after service program in memory of Vicky.  In August, we were short on a minyan.

After lunch on September 20th: We will have a discussion session about the history, evolution and meaning of the Nishmat Shalom liturgy.   Some other month, Max will present at least one session on Sects & Schisms in Judaism.    We invite anyone who would like to let us know if they would like lead a discussion or presentation after lunch.

We have consensus on the appeal letter drafted by Lea, and it should go out with the next newsletter, by early October.  (Thank you Lea for your work on this.) This mailing will also include a Fall/Winter newsletter/calendar update.  Alex will check in with Hanna and Ed

Calendar –Planned: Shabbat morning services on November 15th, December 13th, January 17th, February 21st, and March 21st, plus our customary joint Shabbat evening service and Chanukah celebration with Beyt Chesed on December 19th.

Tu B’Shvat is in early February. We may or may not hold a Tu B’shevat seder this year.  If you are interested in leading and/or hosting please email the Nishmat list.

Carol has located a possible hard-shell case for the Torah scroll.  With input from two sometime hosts and two sometime Torah schleppers, it seemed that overall this would be a positive option for moving, storing and protecting the scroll.   The next step will be that Carol will email the list with the goal of getting input from everyone who has hosted in the last couple of years for feedback and a definite decision at our January CDM.

We would like to be quietly welcoming of people when they arrive at services and assist them with items they are carrying if it looks like they could use help.

Max showed us the NHC T-Shirt with Nishmat Shalom listed as a sponsor.    He reported that the Zoo Minyan (Washington, DC), one of the three other gender-inclusive minyanim in the country is on hiatus.   There was a workshop at the NHC on gender inclusive liturgy that he was not able to attend, but he will be getting the handouts.
